Jazzy Paper Designs #13 Challenge

Hi! This week, each of the designers for the JPD team got to choose their own inspiration from the very cool website: Verve Music Group! The awesome sponsor for this challenge is Limelight Papercrafts. They have donated a Basic Grey Jovial 6x6 Paper Pad to the random winner of our challenge! Take a gander at this pretty collection: Jovial.
Here is my card based on the album cover for artist Theresa Andersson. The album is pictured above. The card was for my daughter's 23rd birthday. She has taken to country western dancing and is really getting good! Thus, the cowgirl theme. The pink designer paper is by Paper Studio and called Pink Gothic Stripe. I cuttlbugged the "foot" portion of the boot to try to similate leather. I combined a couple of different boot patterns that I found online to get the right look and then paper pieced the whole thing, covering a base outline and popped the whole boot out on the green cardstock. For the sunflowers, I used a stained glass pattern found here.
I colored them with Copics and then sprayed them with Marshmellow Glimmer Mist. I used gemstones on the flowers and on the patterned paper. The embossed boot stamp on the inside is "Old Boot" by Stampabilities. I used Spellbinders dies for the inside frame for the sentiment. I distressed the edges of the card with a Tim Holtz tool. I used Rose Distress Ink around the edges of the boot.

I choose this album cover for the colors. But I enjoyed listening to some of this artists' music. Here is a sample: Theresa Andersson
Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you have a great day!

Jazzy Paper Designs Challenge #7: Art Tatum

Good morning! Tenia has a really cool challenge for us this week!
The colors of our inspiration piece are Black, Grey and Ivory. This turns out to be a perfect combination for a wedding I'm attending later this month. These are their colors!
The Jazzy Inspiration piece is this album cover for Art Tatum.

I used Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Shapeabilities for the medallion and Scalloped Edge Frameabilities for the frame. The DP is Paper Studio.

We are being sponsored this week by Cosmo Cricket! The Jazzy winner will receive the Material Girl collection pictured here. You have until May 15th to participate. So join in the fun!

Arthur "Art" Tatum Jr. (October 13, 1909 – November 5, 1956) was an American jazz pianist and virtuoso. He was nearly blind since childhood. Tatum is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time. Critic Scott Yanow wrote, "Tatum's quick reflexes and boundless imagination kept his improvisations filled with fresh (and sometimes futuristic) ideas that put him way ahead of his contemporaries ... Art Tatum's recordings still have the ability to scare modern pianists." A child prodigy with perfect pitch, Tatum learned to play by ear, picking out church hymns by the age of three, learning tunes from the radio and copying piano-roll recordings his mother owned. He developed an incredibly fast playing style, without losing accuracy. Tatum built upon stride and classical piano influences to develop a novel and unique piano style. He introduced a strong, swinging pulse to jazz piano, highlighted with spectacular cadenzas that swept across the entire keyboard. Here's a sample of his music: Tatum

Have a great day!

Crafty Creations Challenge: Distressing

Hi there. I am entering my card in this weeks Crafty Creations Challenge where the challenge is to use distressing in your card.
I have used stamps by Flourishes "From the Garden" set. I love this set! I've colored it with Copics and added some Stickles for shine. The DP (which I've distressed) is cardstock by Heidi Grace: Only Time. I used Spellbinders to cut out the panels. A jumbo flower brad by Spare Parts in the upper right was covered with Stickles and then I added tiny gems and a pearl to it.
Thank you for looking!

Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge #35: Flowers

Hi there. I am entering my card in SSIC challenge this week. The stamp is a Lockhart stamp. I've colored it with Sparkling H20's and Copics. I've spritzed it up with some Stickles. I Cuttlebuged the pink panel and used pearls to embellish. The flower is a put together by Taylored Expressions. The ribbon I got from Hobby Lobby. I ironed it to smooth it out and it wrinkled it all up because it was too hot, but I ended up liking the effect, so I still used it. Hope you like it!

Be sure to check out the DT cards. they are exceptional!
